Cultural Heritage
The International Law Section deals with issues related to the interpretation and implementation of international conventions on the protection of cultural heritage, including in particular the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Conventions, and provides legal advice and guidance to the Government on violations occurring within the territory of Cyprus.
In this context, it deals with proceedings related to claims made by the Republic of Cyprus before national courts abroad for the repatriation of illegally stolen cultural property from the occupied areas of Cyprus.
