Savvas Angelides Deputy Attorney General

Mr. Savvas Angelides was born in Nicosia, in 1974. He graduated from the Archiepiskopos Makarios III Dasoupolis Lyceum in 1991 an he joined the Army of the Republic of Cyprus as Reserve Officer Second Lieutenant (Infantry).

He studied Law in England, graduating in 1996 from the University of Birmingham (Bachelor of Law- LLB). He attended the Bar Vocational Course and holds the title of Barrister at Law.

He handled complicated cases in Cyprus Courts and abroad, including criminal, civil, medical negligence and company law, as well as arbitrations. He has a vast experience in giving legal opinions in mostly criminal, tort, insurance law and he has been a member of the National Betting Authority. From 2013 to 2018 he was a visiting lecturer of Criminal Law and Procedures at Frederick University. Moreover, Mr. Angelides is an author of several articles on legal issues and keynote speaker on legal aspects at several seminars.

Mr. Angelides served as a Minister of Defence from March 1, 2018 until June 29, 2020, date when he was appointed Deputy Attorney General by the President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades.
