Visit of officers from the United Nations at the offices of MOKAS between 20/10/2014 and 04/11/2014, regarding the Project entitled “Strengthening MOKAS Capacities and Improve Efficiency to Detect Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism”

In the basis of the continuing development and upgrading of The Unit for Combating Money Laundering – MO.K.A.S., and the implementation of the above Project, MOKAS between 20/10/2014 and 04/11/2014, accepted a visit from officers from the United Nations (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime - UNODC), who installed the new system goAML Professional edition to MOKAS. Between the above dates, the staff of MOKAS was trained on the new application.

On 04/11/2014 a conference took place at the Ministry of Finance for all the financial institutions in Cyprus and other competent authorities in order to be informed and trained by the officers of the United Nations in relation to the new system.

The Project is expected to contribute to the atomization of the analysis and investigation procedure of MO.K.A.S., and it will enhance the cooperation with its foreign counterpart Units including its cooperation with Norway, as a corroboration of their bilateral relations and cooperation. The new system is expected to go live early 2015
